Pay tribute to 26/11 martyrs’
The 2008 Mumbai attacks were more than tencoordinated shooting and bombing attacks across Mumbai, India's financialcapital and its largest city. The attacks, which drew widespread condemnationacross the world, began on 26 November 2008 and lasted until 29 November,killing at least 173 people and wounding at least 308.
Two hotels, the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower andthe Oberoi Trident, were amongst the four locations targeted. Six explosionswere reported at the Taj hotel and one at the Oberoi Trident. During theattacks, both hotels were surrounded by Rapid Action Force personnel and MarineCommandos (MARCOS) and National Security Guards (NSG) commandos.When reportsemerged that attackers were receiving television broadcasts, feeds to thehotels were blocked.[All attackers were out of theTaj Mahal and Oberoi hotels by the early morning of November 29
Nariman House, a Chabad Lubavitch Jewish centerin Colaba known as the Mumbai Chabad House, was taken over by two attackers andseveral residents were held hostage.The house was stormed by NSG commandos and,after a long battle, one NSG commando and the two attackers were killed
The attacks had multiple, far-ranging effects.The impact was felt on Mumbai and on Maharashtra state, and throughout urbanIndia. The Maharashtra state government has planned to buy 36 speed boats topatrol the coastal areas and several helicopters for the same purpose. It willalso create an anti-terror force called "Force One" and upgrade allthe weapons that Mumbai police currently have.
Most of us have forgotten our heroes whodid sacrifice their life for the nation. Even today if we are able to sleepsilently within the four wall of our house, it is because we know that our jawansat border are ready to sacrifice their life for our safety. But are we giving enoughrecognitions to them for their act of bravery. Most probable answers is no, come lets join hands and pay tribute to allthose who sacrificed their today for our tomorrow
