Numbers

A toddler's screams for attention rings through the air while this piece on the seeming unstoppable human expansion is being started. This mad reproduction leaves plenty mindboggled as to why is everyone mindlessly creating more and more copies of a species that has already asserted its dominance. Shouldn't this 'intelligent' species be occupied with maximising the availability of the dwindling resources among the already miserable population?

This alarming cognitive dissonace extends itself to the way we extract the resources as well. We just do not know when to say enough is enough. Instead we have a moronic cultural landscape where every other weekend produces 'a different lovestory'. What in God's name does that even mean anymore? The moment an established actor's or director's son reaches puberty, his family starts planning that dude's entry to stardom through 'a different lovestory'. One of the factors that makes life bearable on this planet is the sheer variety in life but when you get stuck in a recurring loop, hell is replicated on earth for the benefit of the elite few.

Another muck brought about by the numbers is that humans start to appear as eyeballs and users with no emotional or qualitative properties. Capitalism dissociates human beings from each other and commodifies everyone. The sheep being herded by the elite shepherds. The sheer number ensures that even if some of the sheep aren't too impressed by the shepherds in fool's clothing, he can just brush them away, while the rest of the blind sheep play in to his hands.

I do not see an end to capitalism or the monetary system, or a beginning to human partnership anytime soon. The burgeoning numbers of elite are proof that they're here to stay and the burgeoning numbers of the sheep will make sure of that. The mindbending irony is that the shepherds keep selling the idea of individuality to the group and the sheep buy it hook, line and sinker.
