All set for admissions for the academic session of 2012-13, Delhi University has come out with dates of the prospective cut-offs. A total of five cut-off lists will be prepared this year with the first cut-off to be announced on June 26. Students will get three days' time to complete their admission procedures after declaration of each cut-off list. The three-day margin, unlike the earlier trend, will begin from the day the cut-offs are announced. The remaining four cut-off lists will be out on June 29, July 3, July 6 and July 10 respectively.

"Colleges will come out with five cut-off lists this year. There will be no scope for confusion and students will have enough time to think and decide about the options they have," says J M Khurana, dean, student's welfare.

The registration process for DU college admissions will begin from June 4 till June 18. The university had earlier planned to sell the application forms to candidates at 12 head post offices in the Capital, but now, 10 colleges of the university have also been designated for the sale and submission of forms. The university will notify the names of the post offices and the colleges by May-end. Also, the university for the first time will have an online pre-registration of candidates, besides the offline mode.

"Earlier, we had decided on selling the forms only at various head post offices in Delhi. But, to smoothen the process and make it more accessible to everyone, we decided to rope in colleges as well. Out of the 10 designated colleges, one will be from the north and south campus each, while the other eight colleges selected will be in different zones," adds Khurana.

According to him, colleges will have to come up with the cut-offs carefully. No student can be denied a seat in any college if they match the cut-off, even if the seats have already been filled.

The registration for SC/ST and physically challenged students will be done in the colleges itself. Admissions through the sports quota will be decentralised, that is, colleges will conduct their own trials. The dates for sports trials will be announced by the colleges in due time. The new academic session will commence from July 23.
