Well Begun is Half Done

We all know that India has great potential and we have proven it many times. Many would differ, but still, I would like to state that as individuals, Indians have succeeded but as a society we have failed miserably. We see injustice, corruption, poverty, vandalism, etc right on streets. The optimists would say that even US took 200 years after its independence to be where it is today and we are only 60 odd years old democracy. I agree and even I would have supported the same logic but the thing which takes away all optimism is that we are not moving in the right direction. The way we are moving ahead, it is a sure shot recipe for disaster.

Till now, we have been happy with applying patches here and there thinking that we may end up curing it and when the soul is wounded, patches on skin dont help. We need to be more participative and try to understand what is the real cause for all the problems faced by India.

When I was a kid, the entire government machinery and people around me made me believe that all the problems we had was because of illiteracy. I believed that but when I see all the evils (corruption, murder, vandalism, etc) happening right in National Capital, involving very intelligent and educated people, the myth gets shattered with reality. Some may say that we have all problems because of muslims, communists, dalits, brahmins, so on and so forth. I would like to ask them to think about India less their nemesis. I dont see that they can think of India as a better place in terms of prosperity, justice and dignity. Thus, the answer must be lying somewhere else.
