DAY 607 Amitabh Bachchan Blog

Fight it out ! When oppression challenges fact and truth is valued lesser than the word of the outsider. Then fight it out. When tolerance reaches a point of no return, when goodness and honesty is re evaluated and aspersions are cast, then fight it out ! When circumstantial points of evidence become conclusively demanding and the truth is not allowed to slip by even through that very narrow opening in the wall, then fight it out !!

Fight not to win. Fight to prove that the accuser is motivated and without reason. That he has been programmed to cause distress and discomfort. A deliberate move to crush and level away any encumbrances cannot be done arbitrarily. Without proof or evidence of any proof is even more deplorable. But the functions never stop. The motive as I said is never to win but to destroy, to malign, to disgrace so that your standing is shaken and eventually reduced to dust.

They that accuse would rather believe an outsider a non descript no body and never the face of the nation, a face that beckons recognition not just in your own land but beyond too. It almost tantamount s to a philosophy that those that bring name and fame to a nation must be castigated, not honored and acknowledged. A pathetic state of affairs.

Well then so be it. Let them that design action against, be informed. Touch my tail and be prepared to be burnt. For then I shall not care whether I have a tail or not or whether it is inflamed. Limits when crossed, bring destruction. One may get destroyed in the operation, but in such an occurrence remember always that one cannot ignore fact. And today fact has occupied the psyche of all. Make one mistake and rules of the game shall change.

My deed for the day came by mid afternoon. A trial and private screening for the challenged children at the Dilkhush School. And what a delight it was to spend some time with them in the theatre after the show finished. The joy and smiles and yelps of happiness among them was the most fulfilling expression of contentment. They brought little gifts, hand made cards and knick knacks and crowded around gripping and embracing me as some long lost friend. Their affection was unadulterated and their love shone in their eyes. They did not want to leave. It was like a separation when I did, tearing myself away from a portion of my own body. They sang a glory to the Almighty when I donated a cheque to them to be utilized for something constructive. The singing may have been a bit obtuse, but the intensity of their effort as they struggled with words, became simply the most lovable moment of the evening. May the Lord bless them and give them in abundance that which has been taken away from them.

I dragged myself from them amidst chants of ‘Paa” and ‘Bigg Boss’ !! To return again to spend time with their energy and profound innocence.

Amidst several meetings for the publicity of upcoming films, their alternate exploitation and most innovative programs, the number being almost 15, I am finding myself drawn to the Police Inspector’s theory and position - that confide in them, tell them what they must accept, prepare theories and perhaps a Royal Parade for them to see and observe. We must be the most disorganized people in the country. If speed of action is required that does not come to us, we shall be incapable of any action whatsoever.

Later in the evening when all else is seemingly over, we return to the commitment for the Police. Every year in the memory of those we lost due to action, an entire evening is dedicated to the entertainment for those that never get an opportunity, is organized. Satisfying and rewarding and full of straight talk, the evening for the families runs along parallel in hope and sympathy. They are strong and even of greater bearing when they bid a farewell to their men designated to protect us. Speeches and formalities over I again donate for the welfare fund being run on lines undisclosed so far. But I am certain they, that is the force, shall have some benefit in equipment and better living conditions. And protection too through insurance.

The day is not over yet. Past 11 pm and after a quick snack in the moving car traveling from one destination to the other, I am now in the company of the music duo, Suleiman and Salim, to record song for Teen Patti. They now have a very proficient set up in a basement studio and it is a joy to be with them after Major Saab.

2:20 AM !!

And I am still struggling to get the head to rest .. well maybe now …
