DAY 685 Amitabh Bachchan Blog

Restless, annoyed and disturbed by what the internet connection did to my previous post, I am up without sleep at an hour when most of my surroundings rest and recuperate, to be with the FmXt again ; writing, as many have in the past suggested and advised, on Word, selecting and copying when done, to then paste on to the blog. Aaahhhh !! It is painful. Painful to have lost a moment of reflection and thought that was meant to be shared. Strange is it not, that this emotion should manifest itself into such strong feeling. There are times in the daily routine of our lives when we build many thoughts. Discuss and assess them. Write and rewrite them. Correct them for errors and mistakes, readjust them, para phrase them again and again, convinced that this is what is final and complete to go out to the rest of the world. These are but personal musings which occupy our mind and our time for a sizeable number of minutes, perhaps hours and then disappear. They were constructs of an idle mind, harmless, inconsequential and bearing nothing more than an incoherent moment in the complex structure of our brain.
But … when we construct what we know needs to be shared, to be given out for public consumption, to be given out to extended family … then the pain of its loss or disappearance is unbearable.
I find myself in such state now and I know that despite the consolation that shall come undoubtedly from fellow members, it shall not be sufficient to be a substitute. And lamenting any further on it would be fruitless, so ….

Lets get on with it ! With fresh vigor and strength of a rested mind, which hopefully shall ignore the tragic circumstances of a post undone. Technology creates better facility and working and has from its very construct, developed itself into a monster that has been devised to ease the working of the human – ridding him or her of a physicality and making him or her dependent on a machine. Having therefore succumbed to this forbearing invention of the developed world, we shall now relive history in being enslaved by the superiority of ‘them’ as against the inferiority of ‘us’.

Away then from this moment where we express distress. Ah.. haaah … we get lighter as we proceed even now. A bit of rhyming creeps in to ease the situation. Rhyming ! Yes rhyming .. ‘press’ and ‘tress’. Quite stupid really and accidental, but hell, anything to get a few more words in to distance ourselves from the tragedy of last night !

I was just wondering. Have you noticed sometimes that we tend to use the same word or expression and repeat it in the text quite unobstrusively. Yes ! We tend to repeat the same word in expressing ourselves in a text that does not warrant its existence. It is as they say, a repetition of an express that has repeatedly found its way into our expressive text. A text that should really be devoid of any repetitive expressed expression. The moment is unguarded, unnoticed and most undeliberate, but there it stands, hands by the side, quiet and still, with a slimmer of a tilted upper lip concealing that mischievous smile before it breaks free from our countenance ! Words do have this express quality of repeating themselves in an intended manner without any hint of meaning or sense in expression. We live then in this radically expressionless world, repeating what we may have expressed, repeatedly !

Ha.. hahahah … And if any of that makes any sense you could call me Amitabh ‘misnomer’ Bachchan !

Ok ..!! Basta … no more !!

Abhishek went off to a Master Class this morning, well yesterday morning actually, to introduce his film ‘Guru’ at the Apollo to a select audience forming part of the process designed for the retrospective of his works at this ‘Tongues on Fire’ festival.
Tongues on Fire !! Hmmm … wonder why they wanted to keep the name of a Film Fest thus ! Probably were in the middle of a spicy Indian meal when in discussion !
Jaya did her Q@A later in the evening for her film ‘Love Songs’, directed by Jaybrath, a dear friend of hers from Kolkata, Bengal. The film is a small low budget venture, little known, but invited here for the discerning film goer.
She has this inclination of wanting to be associated in ventures, see there I go again in the usage of similar repeat word, that she will feel strongly about – socially, morally, woman centric, purposeful and one that she would believe in even when the film is out of the cans. Her basis of selection must adhere to one of the others mentioned above. Not always. But yes, generally. She must also have a connect with the maker. There must be an area of level thought and feel. She will look for a quality that endears her to him or her personally. It is not all about work and profession, its about whether she will be able to build a relation. The production or the set becomes her home then. She will look at it with individual and personal interest. If the surroundings are not clean she will clean it, point out irregularities that do not suit or agree with her aesthetics. Crew and colleagues become her friends. She will sit with them in the make up room, not necessarily to discuss the next shot or scene or to be learning her lines but, to chat informally, as if at home. To become an element of their troubles and disclosures if there be. To suggest, advise. Become a confidante to. I find them over at the house often, more out of social need than one that could be professional. Their troubles become hers, their joys and accomplishments her ecstasy. And they remain so, even when the disconnect on the completion of a project occurs.
I, on the other hand, find myself quite the other. Got a job to do, get out there, give it the desired input and out. No interference in the others or other. No business of mine. Pack your bags after the day is over and homeward bound. Yes when ever there is an approach for a personal moment from the other, indulge I must and do. But never the initiator.

Two rather opposite qualities and each with their very definite presence and importance. The former endearing and affectionate, the latter distant and aloof.
And I wonder … which quality does one acquire ? These could not possibly be attitudes that one deliberately manufactures for effect. No. They would, I imagine, come as naturally as breathing. But many would feel otherwise. In this very distrustful and convoluted world, every move and posture, stance and bearing, is looked upon as having ulterior motive. We have all become so vulnerable to mistrust that our natural instincts have been mowed down and crushed.
The endearing self, could make us susceptible to hurt and deceit by those we considered close. The aloof self, would often be construed as arrogance and unwanted pride and make us susceptible to another form of misunderstanding and conceit in the eyes of the other.
So what does one adopt. Or do we not adopt at all. Do we merely live the way we feel comfortable and not worry about what the other may conceive. And … if he conceives correctly do we embrace him or her. And if not do we distance ourselves from them. What if our own perception and assessment of the other is in error. Who then bears blame. Is it important to bring in blame at all ?. Perception could play an important part in this comedy of errors. But even perception is a discernment, an observation. Would it be wise to conduct ourselves merely on acuity ?
Conversely, what do we have alternatively ? Nothing more than a greater bundle of confusion. And so you live and bear. Live with what you are and feel you are. And bear, what you feel others perceive you to be. It would be an impossibility I think to convince an entire world with your thought and deed. It would simultaneously be an impossibility for others to be able to convince themselves of what you may wish them to believe.
Live then I guess, within ones’ parameters. Allow others to enter, either by invitation or through uninvited gate crashers and bear consequences. Or shut the door and open only when we would desire to step out, closing it firmly behind once out and similarly when in.
Shut up ! Shut the world ! Shut yourself !
Really think this to be the ultimate terms of agreement in our world ? Many do, and do well. Many do not, and still do well.

Bother ! Self imposed philosophy gets so boring and indulgent. This is a social network Mr B. We share, hold hands, love, express and embrace. Do you really think you could shut the world ? Naaahh !!
Get back … get back … get back …
Isn’t that what the Beatles said in that memorable album …
Get back to where you belong !!!
Here, here, here …. Within the arms of extended family …
Ah !! Such a feeling of warmth and love ..

The traffic sounds outside begin to invade the silence of an early morning. The hope of a peaceful dawn gently creeps in by the window. No one knows what it shall bring with it. And the mystery of life unfolds for another ‘day’ !
