DAY 692 Amitabh Bachchan Blog

For a few hours by the evening, I became an Omani. Dressed up in their dishdaash and wore their head gear through assistance from a local help and belted myself up with the traditional belt and khanjar, the unique crooked dagger presented to me by His Highness the Minister in charge of Culture. I must admit it was the most comfortable dress I had worn in a long time.

The entire day being filled with visits of importance to important people, the comfort of the dress came as a much deserved relief, and it caused great appreciation to the invitees of the evening event where we were yet again honored.

Did you know that Oman was once an occupied area with the Portuguese ? Some of the forts that they built for their defense still abound and occupy some rather picturesque spots. I took millions of pictures but shall be unable to put them up as time is short. I must rush to the airport to catch a flight back to India and home. So my conversation shall be short. And hey ! Our blog found its way rather prominently to the local press and it was published in their daily newspaper ! Some achievement eh !!

Among many of the visits there was a trip to the old portion of Muscat and a Hindu temple. Which was quite a unique feature. A Hindu temple in an Arab country ! But there it was. And the bell that you see in the picture is the one that hangs inside to indicate the year the temple was made. There has been a long association with India over several years and a deep respect of respective cultures.

The scenic beauty of the waters and the hills that surround it are there to be seen. I shall elaborate on them further.

My love to all …

Amitabh Bachchan
