DAY 313
A woman shall suffer the pain at giving birth and the man in earning his bread ! For centuries this reminder has lived with us, generation after generation. We live in the times and marvel at the wisdom of those that came before us. Who through time and experience formulated for us the beliefs and rituals of life.
My rituals today were guided today by the extensive hours at the studio, a major portion of which were in front of the make up mirror, getting the face plastered with silicon.
It took 4 hrs for it all to come on and another hour to take it off. But may I say the results were simply phenomenal. The team of make up artists flown in from Los Angeles and carrying huge and important credentials were exemplary in their job. Professional to the core and committed to the last brush of paint on the face.
So, the mahurat or an auspicious beginning was made early in the morning. Jaya and Abhishek invoking the Gods to look upon our production with compassion and to give us the strength to accomplish what we have set out to do - make a meaningful respectable film called PAA, an endearing address by Abhishek to his father.
First days are always full of apprehension and doubt, of tests and trials, of gauging the film and its story, the performances in their character given, in questions to each other on whether what is being done is indeed correct or not. And finally at the end of the day when the prosthetics are being pealed off and your face and skin can breathe freely again you sit back and heave a deep sigh of relief that all went as planned.
There were moments of discussion and replacements, of changing camera angles and attempts at different variations from the artists, until all was in acceptable place to move on to tomorrow with a certain sense of fulfillment.
Abhishek flew off to join Mani Ratnam for the shooting of his film with Aishwarya in Kolkata, after initiating the morning puja. He is formally running this one and his insight and management is evident. The old must give in to the new; step back a few so the young can take those hesitant steps forward.
And after a days hard work for my daily bread, I delight in the company of loved ones - my EF !!
I need to pass out. Yes thats the word for my present condition. A condition I am certain all shall appreciate. Till the morrow then.. fresh with new talk and post, I remain ever -
