Before we understand what a social system is,let us try to understand the meaning of the word "SYSTEM".

In simple words, system is an orderly arrangement. We can find an illustrationof a system in a human body.There are vaious parts of human body such as ears,eyes,nose,legs,heart,mind etc. These parts have their own fixed places & are arranged in a particular manner which is called " Organic Structure". We can distinguish the structure of a man from that of a dog because a structure is a specific pattern on the basis of which we can distinguish one structure from other. Each part of structure has a particular function to perform. On the basis of which these function they are inter-related with each other & interact upon one another.Through Inter relationship & interaction of these parts the structure is more active. This aspect of the organic structure is called "organic system". Thus the word System signifies patterned relationship among the constitutent parts of structure which is based on functional relations & which makes thes patrs active & binds them into unity.
