Honour Killing Is Murder In Canada, Sharia Law Or Not
To my Indian, Pakistani and all Muslim readers who condone murder because of Sharia Law:
Please be advised that today's blog entry is from an Anglican (that would be me) with an opinion. I don't pretend to know anything about Indian culture but I am entirely within my right to express my disgust with at the fact that there are cultures on the planet that condone the killing of one's own flesh and blood merely because that victim has refused to marry somebody, wear a hijab head scarf or whatever. If on the other hand my own flesh and flood was coming at me with a knife, (if he or she was brave and bold enough of course to do such a stupid thing) with every intention of ending my life whether I shamed them or not, I would fight back. Fight to the death I would.
My apologies if I offended anybody reading this blog entry. It wasn't my intent. Like I said I am merely expressing an opinion, one that many Canadians hold when it comes to these so-called honour killings.
I don't know much about Sharia Law, nor do I pretend to, but when it comes to honour killings I have a little bit of a problem because murder is murder no matter how you cut it.
Take for instance the stabbing death on New Years Day in Toronto, Canada of Amandeep Kaur Dhillon who was 22 years of age. Her body was found in the basement with a stab wound to her neck. She was the mother of young child living in India.
While the motive for her murder has not been established yet, there is speculation that her father-in-law, who was arrested yesterday and charged with first-degree murder, stabbed his daughter-in-law to death because she dishonoured his family.
You know what, fathers like Kamikar Singh Dhillon and anybody else who is governed or ruled by Sharia Law need to grow thicker skin.
How a parent could murder their own child because they feel that child has dishonoured the family name is beyond me, but there is something definitely wrong with that picture.
If it were left up to me to decide, any parent who deliberately went out their way to plan to kill their own flesh and blood, would never see the light of day beyond prison walls once the were arrested for what I consider a cowardly crime, unless of course capital punishment was in play.
If capital punishment was on the table during prosecution, I would definitely be in favour of sentencing parents like Kamikar Dhillon to death. It's the least he deserves.
The way I see it, and remember I am an Anglican, you take somebody's life then yours should be taken from you. Yes I support capital punishment, the death penalty.
Kamikar Singh Dhillon is a lucky man, in Canada there is no death penalty, and unlike his daughter he will live to see next New Year's Eve.
Kamikar Singh Dillon, who by the way is Sikh if anybody is wondering, is a sick, demented and deranged individual. In fact, anybody from any ethnic culture who thinks its okay to commit a cold-blooded murder against another family member in the name of honour needs to have his or her head examined, perhaps even be locked up in a round rubber room until such time as they are no longer a threat to members of their own family.
Sharia Law obviously turns people into cold-blooded killers over the most trivial of things and I for one think those laws need to be rewritten.
Just so you know, there is another murder currently under the microscope in Canada. It's about a young Pakistani teenager Aqsa Parvez, the sixteen-year-old daughter of cab driver Muhammed Parvez.
He went on trial in Canada yesterday for strangling his daughter to death because she wouldn't wear he Muslim hijab head scarf at school. No word on whether or not that scarf was used to strangle the young girl, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it was.
Murdering your daughter because she refuses to wear what you tell her to wear, does anybody else see something wrong with that picture?
At the risk of offending the Muslim community that practices Sharia Law, whoever help draw up Sharia laws is one sick and very demented individual, a discredit to the human race as far as I'm concerned.
Human beings, all of us, should be defenders of life, not takers.
