Satyam staff shares fear on Facebook & Orkut.

Even as the Satyam saga unfolds, leading internet portals have been buzzing with comments and worried discussions by Satyam communitygroups and even job offers by headhunters. Stunned employees of Satyam are venting their frustration over the situation and future prospects in portals like Facebook, Orkut. Several headhunters see this as an opportunity to forward job offers or tap experienced Satyam employees in other business ventures.

Portals such as Facebook,Orkut show the disbelief of employees. "Is the future of the Indian IT industry dark and gloomy?" is the headline of the latest post on an employee's blog. He raised pertinent questions over the wisdom of Indian IT industry being 'primarily focused on the service industry, and with little or no work done in the field of innovation or product development'.

It's not just existing employees, but also those with offer letters in hand and delayed date of joining, are perplexed with the situation. However, many believe that they were lucky not to be 'trapped' by Satyam. One post on Satyam's Orkut community read: "Thank God we got saved! Till now I used to worry about (my) date of joining (DoJ), but now am happy that we did not get the joining date. Just imagine what would have happened if we had got DoJ. We would have been tied in this crooked company because of the bond. There would have been no option left for us. At least now we can go for teaching, bank, core, small IT company etc. Thank God we won't have to be associated with this tainted company. It is rightly said that whatever happens, happens for the good.

Another fresher was stunned at all the issues that the company has been embroiled in. "Satyam got blacklisted by the World Bank and there are reports that the chairman Mr Raju has resigned. Is it true?" he asked on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Most employees have adopted a 'wait and watch' stand as they do not want to jeopardize their job with Satyam. "I do not plan to resign now. I'm getting my monthly salary and we have been assured by the management that there will be no problem on this. Yes, I'll look out for other opportunities, but I shall not quit until then," said a Chennai-based Satyamite.
