Feeling of richness
When I was a kid, I was just experiencing that all my family member specially my father used to buy every edible item in huge quantity. It was very general for us (all of my siblings). I still not forget the "GUD KI CHAKKI "(One piece of Jaggary that would be 25- 30 Kg in weight )But when I came to Mumbai, I heard "PAV, KILO" in local vegetable market. In our language " Pav " is equal to 250gms and Kilo is considered for 1000 gms. It was surprising for me that how a "PAV " could be kilo. The summery of the story that people buy vegetables in "PAV" rather then in Kilo .
After passing three years in different part of Mumbai Suburban, I came to Muscat. Here, the story was same. Everybody buying the vegetables, fruits, milk from any supermarket in huge quantity. They afraid to visit the shopping mall on dailly basis. Whenever, I get the chance to visit a house of Omanis , I find that the guests are greeted by huge quantity of fruits. I get tired by eating that. But, this gives me a feeling of home away from home and I am very happy.
But, time has it's own flow, I choose to work for company of U.A.E. The day I rich at Dubai Airport , I saw a Man is talking on his mobile and his thumb is just ready to press the cancle switch. I guess , he was more interested to cut his call rather then talk. Here, everything is just resembling to Mumbai, when one would visit a vegetable section of supermarket, the vendor would ask, " How much gms you need". Apples, oranges, guavas etc. are sold even in pack of 5-6 pieces. People do not dare to ask for the cartons of fruit. Here, if you visit a normal hotel (restaurant), you will not find tissue paper on each table and if it is on table then in pieces. If you need more, you will have to visit wash basin or money counter. It was very new for me when I came here, but am I addicted to all these.
But last night, I saw my room partner came back into our room with a carton of orange. No words came out but the feeling of richness can not be hidden. He asked me for dinner but I just replied.. no, I'll not dine . Let me do " Falahar " today. It is the happiest moment for me today. I feel rich..... .........
