My trip to India.

CEO of Colour and Fashion consultancy
I run a successful Colour and Styling business in New Zealand. I organise seminars where I show people how by wearing the right Colours and Style of clothes they can look 10 years younger.

My husband comes from India and wanted me to give talks on Colours in Delhi and Kolkata. Julie works with me as a consultant on Styling and wanted so much to visit India "A country of beautiful colours" as she described it.

We reached India in January this year. Julie was fascinated by its hustle and bustle. The country was buzzing with excitement and there was always something new around the corner. People were friendly and their kindness touched our hearts.

I gave my first talk in Kolkata. It was politely received but not at all understood. Most people in the audiance wanted a formula to look pretty but did not wish to give up colours of their choice. Same things happened in Delhi. Ladies wore clothes worth lakhs of Rupees but refused to take our advise. We failed to convince even a single person. And yet a few of them were willing to undergo cosmetic surgery. Julie and I felt so helpless.

India produces the most beautiful colours in cotton and silks. It produces sarees which no other country can match both in its designs and colour combinations. I was told that some of the sarees they wore cost them $5000. But the cost of a material is irrelevant if its colour fails to bring out your true personality. My clients in the West are quick to recognise that in order to enjoy the benefit of our formula they will need to make a few sacrifices. Majority of them are extremely happy. They not only feel good but hardly anyone looks his/her true age.

Our trip was a great personal success. India is a country of great worth. A country where traditions and progress walk hand-in-hand. I love it and shall never get tired of her. Julie has fallen in love with Kolkata and would love to settle there. It is a Spiritual Bhoomi and a great seat of learning.
