Rahman replaces David Beckham for 28 crore
India's Oscar winner music maestro
A. R. Rahman has been signed by cell phone industry giant Motorola as their new
brand ambassador. He will be replacing Motorola's current international brand
ambassador - renowned football star David Beckham.
Sources reveal, "It is learnt
that Rahman has been paid a whopping Rs.28 crore for this particular
endorsement deal.
This makes him the highest paid Indian celebrity for any such
product. Abhishek Bachchan is the face of Motorola in India and one can
recollect a lot of in-film promotion of the cell phone brand in Bachchan
Junior's last release, DELHI 6. Now it is not yet clear whether Rahman will be
replacing Abhishek in India as well or both shall jointly be promoting the cell
phone brand."
Just last year, Rahman had
collaborated with Motorola's biggest competitor Nokia to launch a music album
called Nokia Connections for the launch of their new cell phone. The soft
spoken music director-singer presently also endorses cell phone service
provider Airtel in India and has also composed the signature tune for the brand.
