Salute to the women hood…………
Salute to the women hood.
This is about a lady back in my home town. I have seen this lady nearly for a decade, when I was in high school i.e. 8th.
Before I start, something about my school, I studied in Tagore Memorial “BOYS” school, one of the famous schools in my home town. Because, if you do not get admission in any other school, there used to be always a vacant seat in ours. We were toppers in everything (except studies). Our school is located in center of the city, we used to call our school as TIGER school (of course we were). and behind our school was a small fort which was built back in time by Tippu Sultan, and in that fort there was a big pond (to be frank no one knew what it was, so they said it was a pond) and in that so called pond they used to grow grass for cattle’s, you could see lot of buffalos, cows and our city’s charm Pigs always enjoying there, and opposite to our school was city stadium which was re-named later as Mahatma Gandhi Stadium. Now you know why we were toppers in all, except in studies. How can you expect boys to concentrate on studies building school near to a stadium? And to tell about my friends circle we were around 15 to 20 guys from different section. we used to attend the first class of the day coz it used to be the period where our class teachers took attendance (we did not had procedure of taking attendance for every class) after that we used to bunk class and got to stadium, though I never played any game I used to sit and watch the game.
Ok back to the story, when I saw that lady for the first time she was chopping the grass in the pond, I looked at her (we could see that pond from our class window) a thin body, dark colored sink, sweat was dropping from her forehead. Two kids were playing outside the pond, yes they were her kids. in the evening I saw her coming out of the pond and put around 10 bundle of grass in to the rickshaw and to my amazement she ride the rickshaw towards her home. I was shocked, it was the first time I saw a women riding rickshaw. That attracted me and I started to think about that lady, she really must have guts to do that. Imagine, 10 to 12 years back a lady riding rickshaw and that to in a small city like mine it’s not a small thing. I used to see that lady often and I used to observer her.
One day I told this to my mom, I think she had also seen or somehow knew about her. My mom said her husband had left or died and she had to take care of her family, her kids and in laws, this lady was the only bread earner of the family. She also told that apart from chopping grass she also dose work in fields.
It was her daily routine, in morning work in fields and around at 10 come to the pond, chop grass till evening, carry the load of grass up to the rickshaw go home and sell it and feed the family form the earnings.
Yes it did change my view to look towards women, a kind of respect for all women. That lady did not have any support or got any help from anyone but look at her crave for life, to live, to survive not only for herself but for her whole family. Though many people used to make fun of her that benign a lady she rides rickshaw.
They should had kept themselves in that situation and thought about her before commenting, but any ways…
She did not lose confidence; she did the same thing day after day, year after year. She took it as challenge and stood against all odds and showed that nothing is impossible for women if she thinks. I saw her kids grow with her and her elder son used to help her with the work. I don’t know what happened next as I completed my PU and left the institution.
After few years when I went back home for vacation from Mysore, I saw that lady again. a old lady, with short white hairs pulling the same old rickshaw with bundles of grass. But something was new this time, there was a kind of satisfaction, kind of peace, a kind of feeling that one will have after winning a battle against whole world.
Yes she had done it, she had won the battle against life, she dedicated all her life for a better future which she could give to her family.
How could she had done that, didn’t she desired of anything else, never thought of living a life without any struggle, never thought of being happy with husband and lived a simple life of what every girl dream about, that her husband should love him a lot, she has to take care of him, take care of kid, to go out with husband/family and have food together. May be these are very small things for men, but these are life for women.
I wonder if this lady had not thought about these things, or maybe she had thought but after her husband left/died she had to take up the role of both husband and wife.
Sometimes I think where does that courage comes in women, what make them to face ruthless world for her loved ones. Yes it’s always hard to understand women. May be that’s the reason they say “A women’s heart is like a Deep Blue See” which has lot of secretes. No men in this world can do what a woman can do if she feels/think of doing.
Women have lot of dreams than men, not about physical thing, but about emotional, they are very sensitive about things around them, they think thousand times for every thing. (To be frank, women are emotionally stronger than men. they can handle any kind of situation). Especially they have lot of imaginations about the life partner. They don’t want anything else in this world if her partner is caring and able to understand her feelings (Their hearts are like a child, you just have to treat them like kid. If you do that, she will love you so much that you will run out of space and no matter what she will be always with you so never break any women’s heart, if you, then that heart will never dare to trust any one)
And the most beautiful part of women is, they don’t ask any thing for what they had done, they just need the respect and love from the loved once.
