Visit To Neemrana Fort Palace

Hi, I want to share my experience on a lovely weekend trip.

During the long weekend ie from 24th to 26th January we had nothing planned except movies or pub. While we were discussing what to do at our regular Chai Waala , a couple was discussing about their visit to the Palace. Curious as i am, I poked my nose in their affair and took details.

Saturday, we left for Neemrana, the journey was pain till Gurgaon with all the traffic . It took us approx one hour to reach Gurgaon from Noida, but the misery was over the moment we touch Jaipur highway and I was driving constantly at 90 km/hr

It took us almost two hours to enter the Neemraana village, as usual we asked an old villager for direction in English and he simply used his hand asking us to go ahead.

I was driving on pot holed, mud clad non existent road, staring and receiving a stare from Camel, Goat and Dogs. Women were interestingly dressed, only going for blouse and lower half. At least we boys were happy.

At last we found an educated man telling us that we have surpassed the fort by two km and have to go back. Ok, let’s go back; we were hip hopping on a narrow lane which I thought can only be used by cattle. Finally we reached the Fort, it looked like Red Fort of Delhi (which I have never visited and passes 100 times in a year).

The first bomb shell , entry fee Rs.500/ per person, second bomb shell , lunch buffet @ Rs 800 + tax per person. Now I know what Royal living is all about.

The moment we entered the Fort, we were awestruck. It is simply beautiful, huge foyer, thick wooden Doors, Royal Jhoolas and it was Big.

It was built in 1464 AD; Neemrana became the third capital of the descendants of Prithviraj Chauhan III, who was killed in battle by Mohammad Ghori in 1192 AD. Neemrana derived its name from a brave local chieftain Nimola Meo, who when defeated by the Chauhans, pleaded that his name be given to his lost kingdom.

The walls are antique, they have not tried to re do it, and it is still the same stone and mortar wall. Interestingly the Fort also has swimming pool and Jacuzzi. You can see colorful turbaned help, smiling to and ready to help you any time. We missed out our time for buffet so we had to do with light snack and it was lavish. There were curious foreigners and as usual how can we forget the boisterous Delhi locals. They have this uncanny habit of shouting, which is so irritating .Girls were good and were returning stare.

You have such lovely view from the fort; u can see the entire city and at night it was simply so good, the administration had arranged for a folk song and dance. At night the entire fort was shinning with lamps. One more thing, the loos are designed to have view. You can see the city while you are relieving yourself.

That’s it folks, if you are in Delhi, you can always go to Neemrana Fort, it is approximately 110 km from Delhi.
