Yesterday while having coffee me and my friend tried to find out how to predict Bangalore traffic? What are the parameters that determine the traffic conditions. If we find out the condition when the traffic will be more and when the traffic will be less, we can plan our journey accordingly. My office is on Old Madras Road near Big Bazaar(RMZ Infinity). I always leeve my home at 8am from Audugodi. Sometimes I struck up on Old Madras Road near K R Puram bridge(opposite to my office). So far I have not found when this traffic will be more. Some times this road will be blocked at 8 am and sometimes there wont be much traffic whole day. After observation and analysis I came up with following few conditions when the traffic is more:

1. On Monday Morning: Monday is first day of new Week, so everyone of such sincerely get up early and leave our homes early, this increases the traffic. Also, people whowent to there home towns return on Monday morning and plan to go to their offices.

2. Next morning of Rainy Night: This is my observation. If last night it rains heaviuly then I found more traffic on roads next morning. Do not know the reason yet.

3. Just Before and Just after the rain: Whenever clouds start getting densed and people feel that it may rain heavily now, people resume their journey and come on road this increases traffic, also when rain stops those who were waiting for rain to stop they come out and start their vehicles.

4. Friday evenings: Our weekend starts from friday evening, so we all leave our offices early on friday evenings and rush to homes and our home towns or to picnic and tours.

5. Evening before continues holidays: Last friday(14th August) was horrible experience for my roomates. They booked bus tickets for their home towns and buses were scheduled for departure at 9.30 pm from Majestic. They left Kormangla at 7.30 pm and reached majestic at 10.00 pm. Thank Almighty that the bust was still there. This situation is certain whenver we get extended weekends like friday or monday holiday. On these days you can avoid getting strucked into traffic by leaving your office/home early.

6. BMTC Buses broken down: Several times I saw that BMTC bus will be broken down at the middle of road and traffic will be slow moving on that road. Also, due to road repair works, METRO work traffic may get affected in that area.

I hope I have covered atleast some factors affecting our Bangalore Traffic. You may comment your views on the same.
