I miss the glitter of award ceremonies: Aamir Khan
He has given them a miss for years and Aamir Khan
feels he has really missed the glitter of award ceremonies as many things
"happen" at these functions.
Making a rare
presence at an award ceremony along with his wife Kiran to collect the NDTV 'Indian of the Year in Entertainment' prize, he
said "I don't hate award ceremonies. I actually miss them now that I have
stopped attending them. I hear that many funny things happen there." Aamir
was presented the award by none other than politics 'own funny man' Railway
Minister Lalu Prasad.
Asked about
Akshay Kumar's recent comments at the Star Screen Awards where he had said that
the recognition of actor of popular choice should have gone to Aamir, the
'Ghajini' star said, "It was really sweet of Akshay to say that. It really
touched my heart." He also did not miss an opportunity to address the
politicians on this occasion.
"I want to
appeal to our politicians to lead us ahead. I say this because I am never going
to get so many of the leaders again. Now that the elections are coming we
request them to field candidates that are clean, intelligent and
deserving," Aamir said.
