Farewell to the size zero trend

Engineer
Is 2009 set to see the end of this ridiculous size 0 trend?

Much has been made about Bebo's size zero trend that she adopted for her barely left a mark movie - Tashan. The movie died a tragic death, but Kareena Kapoor, who is all set to be India's answer to Posh Spice, plunged head on into the size zero trend that the West had mercifully left behind. Wafer thin celebs - Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole have been seen sporting more curvaceous figures than once seen before, as has Eva longoria who has been asked to gain weight for her desperate housewives role, she has said 'we just ate so much we went crazy over the summer'.

With the New Year clock ticking away on a countdown mode, we celebrate the latest 'It' girl. To quote Heidi Klum, "Fashion is fleeting. One day your in, one day your out!" And if you are an aficionado of the Western trend, then Marc Jacobs latest It girl – Daisy Lowe would mark the return of real women back into the fashion industry. Her un-waif like figure — often called curvy* — is renewing interest in the female form, as opposed the year's of androgyny we've been living.

And quoting Priya Tanna, Editor, Vogue India, "Whether you celebrate the Indian volupte, or debate over India trying hard to loose her curves, shape remains an important issue and pre-occupation for us." She justified her words by bringing in Tabu – who embodies the quintessential Indian silhouette. A consummate performer and an earthy beauty, she is undoubtedly the champion for both real curves and real women.

Real women with real bodies are 2009's mantra. A celebration of women in size 6 onwards…sexy, curvy and gorgeous – women who are not afraid of their silhouettes.
