Will BJP boot out Arun Shourie too?
It seems BJP's bad days have no end. After sacking
Jaswant Singh, losing Advani's `figure of speech' in Kulkarni and the defiant
stand taken by Vasundara Raje Scindia, outspoken leader in the party Arun
Shourie on Monday dropped a bombshell, rather a few bombshells.
In
a surprise move, he has called the BJP president as "Rajnath in
Blunderland" and a "Humpty Dumpty." If that was not nasty blows,
he has asked all the top leadership to resign and allow the RSS to take over
the BJP.
In
a TV interview, he said the BJP today was a "Kati patang," implying
that it was rudderless, leaderless and clueless.
In
the interview, Shourie was highly critical of Rajnath and his style of
functioning and also took swipes at top leadership including Advani. Shourie's
interview to NDTV was laced with sarcasm and sounded more like a frustrated man
speaking.
Shourie
also said that the party leadership is surrounded by a coterie that will never
allow free thinking and will only lead the party from one disaster to another.
It
may be recalled that it was Shourie who first wrote a letter to the party
leadership soon after the defeat in the recent Lok Sabha polls calling for
serious introspection and the need to pinpoint the people responsible for the
debacle. He was soon put down by a few senior party leaders who called Shourie
a `letter writing intellectual' not aware of the ground realities of the party.
For
the nasty and barbed criticism against Rajnath, Shourie is likely to be sacked,
party sources said. If that happens, the BJP will lose another major voice
within the party after Jaswant and Kulkarni.
