The accounts of terrorism.
I Sometime wonders are terrorists better financial managers? Today when the world is facing one of the worst financial crisis and biggies like general motors have to face bankruptcy how the hell these terrorist organizations are generating funds to carry out heinous activities. At a time when companies which hire most efficient people from top B-schools around the world are facing tough time to survive I can’t understand how these terrorist are generating funds for inhuman causes.
Today when job cuts are daily news and people are finding it difficult to arrange bread and butter for their family in such a time terrorists are spending good chunk of money on acquiring sophisticated weapons so that they can kill more people in more sophistical manner. When there are financial cut downs are going on everywhere there is no cut down on terrorist activities. Not at least in India,Pakistan and Iraq.Few days ago I read a report about some terrorist groups planning to invest on nuclear weapons,I’m not a weapon expert but anyone can say investing on nuclear weapon can’t be a small investment. What are the sources from which these people are getting there funds to waste on antisocial activities.
As a student of management I know financial managers have three important functions 1)Generation of fund or fund raising 2)Fund allocation or utilization of fund 3)Profit planning or sharing of profit. As far as fund generation is concerned these people are really good, in such adverse economical conditions also these people are getting money for their antisocial projects. But when it comes allocation of fund and profit sharing is taken into account these people just fall flat. These people are just wasting their money on things which are not going to help anyone. And the return they earn from these investments are tears, blood, fear and destruction which is very much unwanted for any normal human being.I wish these people can realize how much help can be provided to society if they can use this fund in some humanitarian cause.
There is one more aspect of management which is called business ethics and the first rule of business ethics says the organizations which are not good for interest of society sooner or later they cease to exist.I hope that happen soon.
