WHEN REPRODUCTION INDEED BECOMES A CRIME
And into this web of the grim future that humans weave through their apathy and selfishness, hapless innocent posterity gets trapped for no fault of its own. And it is posterity that is going to face the thankless task of cleaning up; both the insides and outsides. They are going to pay dearly for the sins of their prodigal fathers who are still continuing in their environmentally wanton & wayward ways. In this context, one wonders whether reproduction by human adults indeed becomes a crime of recklessness, armed as we are by science and technology to be fully aware of the serious future consequences of our actions of environmental neglect.
Yes we humans are fully aware of the miasma that this planet could very well become should modern civilization continue on this mindless trajectory of self-destruction. Yet we choose to bring newer lives into this world, new pairs of trusting eyes that believe us when we tell them that we are going to protect them and make their lives great..ARE WE???We send them to schools and universities where they will soon become painfully aware of our follies and tomorrow if heavens forbid and the world becomes an inhospitable wasteland, do we care to even think as to how will they remember us. Are we qualified to bring newer lives into this world if we cannot assure them of its integrity and viability for a good life. And if we cannot do that are we not guilty of recklessness. Isn't it akin to having AIDS and having unprotected sex with a trusting partner.
