Now that everyone in the world formally knows Allah Rakkha Rahman.. will someone also notice that he is a convert to Islam and has retained his love for humanity through Music which usually those Islamist extremists are showing hatred for.....

The point of me bringing up the religion and some other 'seemingly discriminating' aspects is because art knows no religion and boundaries, and so also, humanity is without boundaries. So is our nation which has been lately reviving the cases that unleashed utter horror events in Gujarat... but there will be eventual justice for those who bore the brunt of this communal act....

but back to the arts...

With Rahman's win, he could also stand as an icon of the community that - though he was a born Hindu - but having embraced this religion, he was able to unleash his talent and give this nation a huge platform.

India's soft power in the form of the Indian music and cinema has wowed the world over anyways.. but it took a non-Indian team to bring this artistic canvas closer to the art and motion picture inspection team for them to notice what real talent is...

It highlights that if well packaged and shown to the world, any art form can emerge a winner, be it Indian cinema talent or music talent.

Though India has won Oscars before, but in the current times of gloom and doom, when the whole essence of this movie is about coming out of the dark into the light is in your face... it shows the west that miracles are possible and this movie underscores such a miracle that a 'slum dweller' unleashes...

of course in this whole plot, the amazing fusion music played the role of stitching up the talented performance .. the lyrics that Gulzaar Saab penned have been nonetheless not far behind.

I would have loved if R.D. and Gulzaar would have won an Oscar, or if Kishore and Asha with Punchamda won an Oscar supported by Gulzaar Saab and Haribhai (Sanjeev Kumar) but that was not to be...

nevertheless, we are here, we the people of India feel absolutely elated that 3 humble human beings of our nation have earned a respect and adulation they deserved always and it came to them finally...
Resil Pookutty, I think, has created history to have been the first technician from India to win this award and now that also shows the amazing South Indian talent in Music that Indian government SHOULD promote and develop all the more vehemently...

South Indians rock ;->

To the rest of the crew of the movie, and surely the publicist who would have lobbyed hard for the movie, Indian cinema now will learn a wonderful lesson on how to sell their ideas to the West!

here's to more of such wonderful performances and scope of such awards and probably an Oscar presentation right here, in India sometime in the future...

It's good that the Academy is not that impacted by the downturn to outsource it's presentation event to India ;-)
