Why India can Succeed
Though the problems of personality mismatches persists everywhere, the best aspect of core Indian personality is that people here, esp. in the hinterlands (that remain) are happy go lucky.
There have been times where till during the 80s when I used to travel around on work, people used to be content with what they had, which was not very much in those times, but people were quite often self-sufficient in times of tight govt. controls.
The underlying fabric is getting ruptured in a lot of ways, but Indians are a tough lot when it comes to survival. Just because there have not been enough attempts to publish the studies of Indian demography and social sciences and share them in the public space, a lot of times, the world has seen a lot of mis-represented facts.
Indian strength, definitely lies in the ability to take stress head on and work through it. Given the fact that India has more than 25 offcial languages and cultures, one takes a special kind of internal tenacity to wade through the so called language and cultural barriers and come out as a survivor. With the Indian railways in it's early days, as did the Indian defence, transferred personnel across state borders to new cities where people had to adjust to the languages, attitudes, cultures and work place. This attitude has internally changed a lot of Indians, and today, they are capable to living and doing well anywhere in the world.
All these along with the intellectual abilities that natives of every Indian state are born with, make them a very flexible lot, hence giving them all the tools and techniques to survive and make it big in their own ways.
Unfortunately, the skills Indians have usually end up being used against their own nation, state and self. This, which is termed the Indian Crab mentality, keeps them from progressing in their own country in more ways than one. But there are exceptions who have used the same crabby ways to bring India to the fore in several areas.
This is India
