I still believe that CAG exceeded his constitutional mandate in treading in to policy domains and gave mind boggling figures of windfall profits forgone by the Government. Yet the investigations by a dis credited CBI itself has unravelled the politician-business men nexus with Legislators, Ministers from either side of the divide having made money. But this has been the case of allotments at the discretion of those in power for many many years. As Chetan Bhagat pointed out in his article in TOI of today, both the parties need to come out clean on the affair and put in place adequate safeguards atleast in future so that discretionary allotments are not facilitated in selling national resources. 

Sonia was a bit too aggressive when she exhorted her partymen to retaliate with counter charges in the street which was literally taken in to logical conclusion by an old loyalist Jagdish Tytler who led a mod to lay siege to Odisha Assembly demanding that Naveen Patnaick resigns for corrupt practices. This unruly mob indulged in large scale violence targetting a woman police officer for special treatment. The footage do show some of the crowd protecting her from the attempt to attack- she receives merciless beatings from the mob- but the way Tytler defended this behaviour was shocking. It was even more shocking for Shoma Chaudury of Tehelka to invite comparions of Chauri chuara when Mahatma Gandhi called off the agitation following violence eruption. Certainly Tytler is no Gandhi and it was an insult to the father of the nation to expect such behaviour from a self styled goon cum politician who is still remembered for his role in 1984 large scale riot against Sikhs. Sonia should issue an apology for this mob violence and take to task the perpetrators within including Jagdish Tytler to redeem her image. I believe she will do it for she atoned for the 1984 riots and for operation blue star by tendering an apology to the Sikhs.
