NEW CRUSADERS IN TOWN -PART II
This yoga guru is a simplified version of Sri sri Ravishankar who with his art of living taught yoga and pranayamam to rich disciples whereas Ramdev targeted non English speaking natives to spread his message of yoga and became an instant hit. He had celebrity followers as well. He is presiding over an empire consisting of yoga classes, ayurvedic formulations etc estimated to be worth several thousands of crores. Allegations were levelled by Brinda karat as to use of human bones in his theraupatic formulations which were vehemently denied by him.Suddenly this Yoga Guru having become envious of the mass adulations that another crusader Anna Hazare received announced a fast un to death in Ram lila Grounds. the inept govenment caved in despatching four senior Ministers to receive him at the airport where he alighted from his private jet. Senior officials of IT,DRI, ED were sent to explain the various steps taken to curb black money menace and bring back funds slashed abroad. The Baba was elated at the reception even heads of state could not aspire to get and announced that he will observe a token fast and provided the Government gave an undertaking in writing would call off the fast. Meanwhile BJP and saffron brigade took the centre stage which sent shivers down the spine of the UPA Government. Media was agog with speculations of rift between party and Government for having sent senior ministers to receive the Baba and the Government was also developing cold feet over the issue. In a pre dawn swoop Delhi police dismantled the yoga guru's pandal and drove away his supporters and also physically removed the Baba. This drew loud protests from the civil society and the government was doing a tough job of explaining as to why it resorted to this bravado. These are all known to every one. Now the question is can any one - for that matter any civil society group take upon intimidating and black mailing an elected government for whatever reason? The demands of these groups are frivolous anti democractic and need to be reined in. I believe that the innocent looking Prime Minister- the darling of the elites, educated, media and the so called neo rich middle class is behind all these tamasha in order to assert himself as it is perceived that he is being controlled by UPA Chairperson Sonia whom Anna Hazare called remote control. How do you explain that the media is silent when there was a overt attempt to rob the exchequer in the name of S band allotment to a private Company by Antrix Corportion- a Defence ministry consortium which was called off. the estimated revenue loss was far more than the estimated loss in2G. While the media still bays of blood of many DMK members, the enforcement agencies, the courts and everyone highlight the so called 2G spectrum scam are silent on the involvement of PMO and its officials in sale of S Band spectrum to a company wherein even foreign diplomats have invested and wherein ex ISRO men were involved as promoters. Why is that no one talks about Hassan Ali and why is that the kind of alacrity shown in 2G case is missing in Hassan Ali loot?
It seems to be that the entire talk of war on corruption is an attempt by vested interests in the media, society represented by a bloated middle class to usurp powers to govern this country which is legitimately not theirs. This needs to be fought for if we do not, democracy would be the casualty.
To tar all politicians by the same brush is to take a cynical view of the tradition of democracy. The talk that the black money was generated due to obnoxious laws of controlled economy is also untrue to the extent that it is now revealed the flight of capital has infact increased under a liberalised economy.
