Arrival of Lord Krishna
Bhagavad Gita remains the holiest of Hindu scriptures for it is believed that Lord Krishna himself authored it. The Lord proclaims in one of the verses that he descends on this earth whenever Adharma seeks to prevail over Dharma to establish Dharma. "Yadha Yadha hi Dharmasya Glanir Bhavathi Bharatha' so starts the verse. I believe the Lord normally presents himself in so many human forms at different points of time. Justice Sri Krishna who is already a celebrity in his own right for his path breaking judgement in Mumbai massacre following the Mumbai serial blast, in which he had singularly found Mumbai administration and the police to be in hand in glove with Hindutva elements who annihilated many Muslims as a retaliatory measure. The police either connived with the hooligans or abetted it. The secular world saw in him a messiah re-incarnated. Yet again Justice Sri Krishna has brought a report in deference to the order of the Supreme Court of India in the Lawyers- Police stand off at Chennai. The justice has condemned the high handed behavior of Police but not before concluding that it was the battery of lawyers who created this mayhem. He has named a few of them who have been constantly challenging the rule of law. Be it holding a meeting in honor of a proclaimed offender within the precints of the court, or intimidating and assulting a former UnionMinister, abusing those lawyers who sought to differ from them they did all unlawful activities without a fear of retribution. Sadly as the Justice observed, the Chennai High court judges also gave them a long rope which emboldened them to commit crimes after crime without fear of punishment. He has cited the various offences for which this particular stream of lawyers have been booked by thePolice. The Lawyers claimed that the Police never spared even judges who became a victim of mindless violence. The Justice has pointed out that the injured Judge himself has appealed to lawyers not to throw stones at the Police as they are the protectors.
Judiciary and Judicial appointments in Tamil nadu are highly politicised and done on caste based pressures. Most of the lawyers are divided on political, caste lines. The lawyers had earlier protested against the then Chief Justice Markandeya Katju. They have boycotted his sittings. It is not new for these bunch of lawers to intimidate. When the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court was opened, these people protested for they feared loss of business from Southern part of Tamil Nadu. all through the Bar council was a mute spectator. Atleast now The Bar council should wake up from the slumber and debarr those advocates who have been named by the commission from practising in a court of law for a specific period of time. then only things will improve.
