CRISIS IN BJP- PART I

The crisis in BJP has an untold dimension. I may be accused of being blasphemous but it is a sad truth. The crisis has a long history.

BJP has long been accused of being a party of the Brahmins and Banias. BJP in its earlier avatar was Janasangh which merged with Janatha party after Emergency. RSS was the mother of Sangh Parivar. RSS itself was formed by Chitbhavan Brahmins of Nagpur who claimed patent rights for patriotism. Fortunately, there were not many takers for their fire brand patriotism with Veer Savarkar Golwalkar adorning the role of custodians of Hindu Dharma and espousing the cause of hindu rashtra. In fact, even brahmins were gravitating towards a Bania, Mahatma Gandhi who could command support over the masses more than any other leader past and present. We had Nehru, Rajagopalachari, Satyamoorthy, Prakasam, Gokhale, Tilak, Ranade, many such illustrious list of self less brahmin leaders who rallied under Mahatma. RSS plotted to kill Gandhiji after independence in the name of avenging for his alleged pro Muslim leanings with the belief that it could then occupy centre stage with their militant brand of nationalism. Unfortunately for them even an admirer of RSS Sardar Patel had to ban them and incarcerate their leaders. Noorani claims that Golwalkar sent a written apology to Nehru to get the ban lifted.

Deen Dayal Upadyaya was their charming prince who had a follower in Atal Behari Vajpayee. Both were brahmins. Vajpayee had a follower in Advani who has toiled his way to the top by sheer dent of hardwork. It was Advani's Rath yatra which made BJP a force to reckon with.
Vajpayee's chosen successor was late Pramod Mahajan a Maharashtrian Brahmin. We had Murli Manohar Joshi, now have Sushma Swaraj Jaitely Shourie who are either Brahmins or those nurtured by RSS. The second rung leader Ananthakumar is a Karnatka Brahmin. Except for Venkaiah Naidu all others are Brahmins. So the present crisis is an attempt by the Brahmin lobby to usurp all the powers from Advani the lone challenger by any means. I have historical evidences to prove this in my second post
