    It is a regular occurrence in Kashmir that every year when Amarnath Yatra is about to commence, there will be commotion followed by unrest, stone pelting, and police firing. This time  around there has been some civilian casualties including that of a 11 year old boy who was killed in the cross fire. Journalists, political parties took to preaching the Union government not to fritter away the gains made by holding talks with separatist elements. Home Secretary Mr.G.K.Pillai is a man of steel and he with held his ground stating that paramilitary forces fired in self defence when faced with violent stone pelting mobs. Parties across the political spectrum except BJP found fault with the handling of the crisis by Omar Abdullah who a few days ago accorded reception to Kashmiri Pandits. The danger in Kashmir is not the Hurriyat not Sajjad Lone nor Shabbir Shah or Geelani but the PDP and its leaders like Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and his recalcitrant daughter Mehbooba Mufti who act as agents from across the border. A man who exchanged terrorists to get his daughter released when he was Home Minister in National Front Government headed by VP Singh ( Rubiya Saeed issue which was to be filmed later as Roja by Mani Ratnam) can do no better. He has no values. He is so arrogant and self centered that he suggested accepting Pakistani Currency as legal tender across PoK. 

     

    How do we resolve this issue? Is there any meaning in talking to separatists? Is there any meaning in holding assembly elections on a periodic basis and install regime which never earn the confidence of local population? It is here we should think out of the box. Gen Parvez Musharaff claimed that he had his solution in coat pocket when he came to Agra when some one in Vajpayee dispensation sabotaged it. That was an obvious reference to LK Advani. Advani has felt as a migrant Sindhi, the travails and pains of partition. He suggested the trifurcation of Kashmir in to Hindu dominated Jammu, Muslim Dominated Kashmir and Buddhist dominated Ladakh. That alone will isolate the extremist elements. Let us hold a referendum on this issue and face it.
