WOEBEGONE COMRADES
TheLeft Parties in India had their best ever time in the last Lok sabha when they had an elected Government taking orders from their Head Quarters AKG Bhavan. Comrades Karat and economist turned Marxist Sitaram Yechury had access to Race Course Road house of the PM and Janpath house of UPA Chairperson. Every time they sniffed at West Bengal or elsewhere a Senior Minister like Pranab was dutifully despatched to assuage their misgivings. The Indo US nuclear deal brought about a sea change in the relationship with Karat wielding the stick instead of carrots for the first time. An innocuous Professor that our PM is turned a Chanakya and outsmarted Karat by winning confidence vote. The slide had just began. The Lok Sabha elections contrary to expectations brought forth a new dispensation under Congress leadership which could now survive without Comrades. Comrades were in for more trouble. Law caught up with one of their comrades Vijayan in the Lovalin Case with governor according sanction to prosecute him. Buddhadeb who had earlier faced mob anger and fury for his stand in Singur and Nandigram faced yet another mob fury from Lalgarh. Comrades smelt a rat and started accusing Mamta and her men for fomenting trouble little realising that it was Maoists who have taken law in to thier own hand. When BJP Government was fighting Maoists in Chattisgarh and elsewhere, it was OK for our Red Army of Comrades. They called the banning of such organisations undemocratic and civil liberties wings under marxist influence were clamouring for the release of one Dr. Binayak Acharya incarcerated for his alleged links to Maoists. That Dr Acharya was let on bail by supreme Court is another issue. But Left parties were enjoying the Maoist attach on police and paramilitary forces in Chattisgarh and even in Orrisa. They even called Salwa Judum ( arming the local population to defend against Maoist attacks) of Raman Singh anti democratic. They were gleeful when the armed Maoists in Nepal managed to climb to power displacing the royalty. They resented Indian role in disapproving the sacking of Army chief by Nepal PM Prachanda. They quitely ignored the first official visit of Prachanda to China as of no consequence to india They were reluctant to support our government stand on Arunachal. Well Comrades, as Maoist leader Rao had commented the pay back has just begun. Please live through it.
