Commonwealth's mess
In last weeks CWG saw numerous criticisms over corruption, mismanagement etc. in fact all allegations are true but we can’t play blame game as CWG was looked by international media and India’s image was maligned. Actually the problem lies in our social setup, social mentality, and attitude. The thing is that we need to ask ourselves (particularly those are serving for government agencies), how serious are we about our job? All the mess happened because every link failed to complete there job on time, with sheer honesty, commitment but instead of admitting the mistakes they are putting blame on other authorities are sitting idle.
Even the higher leadership also took interest in CWG very late, actually this if this should have happened early all the mess might have been avoided. Actually there seem no processes, planning for organizing such events (One of media channel terms it as Monsoon wedding, very much true). The processes are meant to keep system stable; hence those are so important in our life to make it simpler, smoother. There are many young MPs sitting in parliament why can’t we delegate some of the responsibilities to them as ultimately sports need lot more young blood, for Kalmadi organizing the huge event was really tough job, don't know it might be beyond his organizing ability that might also be the reason of the mess.
There are many lessons to take from CWG, as Azeem Premaji said few days back was it necessary to put such huge money (approx. 60,000 Cr)? When we look at sporting infrastructure in India except Cricket it is equal to nothing. Why shouldn’t we put the whole money there? We really lack this, so how we are going to earn more medals, we end up in Olympics with barely 1or 2 medals, so why we are day dreaming of organizing Olympics? Instead why can’t we concentrate on sport within our country first? There are many such questions to be asked and I am sure no justification for them as well. As we say India is developing with the pace of 8-9% economic growth but we are failing to improve the social discipline rather we can say only some class of society is growing other classes’ growth is stagnant. They all say about the inclusive growth but we can’t see it happening. In fact the corruption is increasingly eating all money of taxpayers.
I am sure CWG games are going to be huge success but after that government need to fix all the messes happened, fix the corruption, think on the improving sporting infrastructure. The biggest proud moment will be when India emerges as Sporting Superpower.
