Not Destiny but Decision

“Protect the dagger was my sacred calling... It’s gone... It’s my destiny “princess tamina told dastan, after hassansin took the dagger with them. Destiny is the popular word among adolescents. What actually is destiny? How do you define it? No one knew Q&A until slumdog millionaire released. It was Jamal’s destiny to win a million and film’s destiny to embezzle 8 academy awards, which tells you destiny can be fatal.

Destiny – predetermined course of events.

Why to believe in destiny? – Nothing is our own, right from our life, brain, blood, heart but thoughts. It is our thoughts that we perceive becomes our path, it tempts us, it warns us, it persuade us. We try to avoid hindsight every time, but we get carried away by thoughts sometimes.

When a person who has sound knowledge in small scale management has a poor earning or a volatile job, people tend to call that as destiny. It goes in contrary too. Zaheer khan was never intended to play for India until he was found bowling. Sangakara wanted to be a lawyer but ended up as one of the finest wicket keeper batsman and successful captain of Srilanka. A decision defines a person not destiny.

My roomie told about his father who holds MA in economics and MA in history, vehemently denied an opportunity from college due to his personal reasons, is higher secondary teacher now. But the leap of knowledge is unfathomable. It is not destiny but decision. Mistake cannot be your destiny.

Participate - If our thoughts come alive we are celebrating and if not then we obviously search for shoulders to share. Many of us have stage fright; some are comfortable facing known faces and some with unknown. Irrespective of the fright when we tend to participate, face doesn’t matter. In a group of 100 freshers from a second tier university only 1% would respond to the speaker, which is again depends on the individual’s exposure to the public participation – institution matters. Be it any situation, participate. It’s our life; it’s our responsibility to leave the foot prints for the next generation. Being rigid with the principles will help you enough to survive with in your boundaries. Have principles that suit you, have empathy, have ethical standards, and keep your conscience alive. If our destiny is written by someone else, what are we for? Don’t follow three wise monkeys; again it would be a mistake. Write your own destiny, participate in almost everything, and love people.

Leaving you with one final thought –                                                                                                                                                                                                      Had sachin tendulkar not walked back when umpire Daves disagreed with rampaul’s vociferous appeal, he would have registered his 100-ury before 39,000 souls. Was that his destiny or mistake?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Can you define integrity? Yes, you can. Can you define Tendulkar? Give a try!
