What an idea, Sirji!
Has it ever happened to you that you don’t get a good idea when you need it the most? Ever wondered why your mind blocks when your CEO asks you to suggest ideas to improve company’s performance? Thankfully you are not the only one, it happens to CEO’s too (and that’s why they ask you!).
The myth behind generating great ideas is that you have to sit under a tree for hours to get a good idea. The seed of any idea is in observing, when we see any activity around us, we start analyzing it in our subconscious mind, and think about the ways we can improve it, that is a point where ideas are generated.
Good, better, best:
Now there are two types of ideas, the good and the bad, then how to get good ideas and not the bad ones. The problem is we cannot generate a good idea without generating many bad ideas. Humans are not innovators by nature, we create, analyze and improvise on things. It was impossible to design a fuel cell engine without designing a steam engine, in the same way it’s impossible to generate a good idea without going through a lot of bad ideas.
So next time when get a lot of bad ideas instead of good ones, be sure that you are very close to a great idea.
