What is your focus?
"In what context?" I asked..
"About your current job responsibility" he said handing over some documents in my hand.
I was blank. I thought of saying something, but I couldn't comeup with any answer.
"We need to balance the targets, utilization and revenues.."
It was so simple..Ok...I didn't know..It was the best business goal for any newcomer joining the team...I like it ...
But soon after he went, I pondered was it a final thing? Can we make it more simple? Making it more simple ....Hmmmm...It is not easy now..I started thinking..Why am I at this place? What is the end product? About whom I should be concerned about the most?
For me the answer is Customer...I am here at first place because my Customer wants me to be here...and who are my customers...the common people...people who buy mobile to communciate with others...I am here to make their life simple...and I am here to help them...Rest comes afterwards..
In achiving targets in life many times, we lose sight of actual goal, many times we forget the most basic things in life, and those forgotten lessons teach us big lessons later. It is my experience. Looking at objective sentences of many resumes of people who approach me for help, I advice them dn't take my advice write what you think is suitable for you. Write what you want, write and focus on it. What if you write the Objective you always wanted to write despite all hardships? It is hard to sell, but I know you will never be happy if you dn't write what you always wanted.
It still surprises me the simple fact that all we need to know and understand the basics and nothing else. Crunching numbers might be easy, analysing data might be easy but the outcome of all these things demand only one thing! Customer Satisfication! Rest comes afterwards.
All businesses and all technical stuff we do daily, all the stuff, if customers aren't getting what they want, it is of no use. No matter, you achieve your monthly targets or not, no matter you reach the utilization level or not or no matter you cross the expected the revenue or not. It hardly matters! if your end user is not happy. And believe me, whosoever you are and whatever role you play in the organization you work, if you lose sight of this simple fact, sooner or later you will be in trouble. And it is better to learn lesson sooner, than not learning it anyway by losing sight of goal completely.
