Bodhu- 2nd part ( translation of a Bengali poem)

None say bad things still fear,

Feel the look of a hard stare,

Heart is heavy in icy pain,

Tears dried up - try in vain.

From the walls of a closed prison,

Comes the echo back in the den.

“Why she looks so sad all day long?

What’s the cause that gone so wrong?

Why she sits afar do not mix?

Keeps away from fun and feast,

She loves to feel sad, it is plain—

May be the traits of village dame.”

My pain is deep, they go not get

And seek relief in angry fret.

Visit in the groups to take the test,

Some see just the face, figures rest,

As if a flower-buds, put to sale,

Some would try to touch, some inhale,

It is a check for money’s worth

None would love the bud, none cares.

Bricks over bricks, makes a heap,

Men have turned to worms in its grip,

They don’t know how to play, how to love,

They have turned to brick one above.

I don’t know how are you , O my Mom!

Do you miss me now every dawn?

Sitting on the roof, to whom you tell?

In lovely moon-shine, fairy tales?

Do you shed tears, in a empty bed?

With a heavy heart lie awake?

Plead to Lord Shiva with flowers?

To bless the girl-who stays so far!

On the roof here comes too Moon

Begs the entry in living room

Seems he loved me much and to trace

Keeps roaming from place to place.

When he comes so close seeking me.

I feel so mad eager, run to see,

Leaving door open in terrace,

But a home-ful of angry face,

Gives me cold stares, hated peeps,

Saying ”Fie on you” raise the stick.

They had robbed the love, gave me pain

Don’t know how to love, they just feign

All day long, I feel wretched

It’s a slave-life, better death

Leaving curse of a life-fake

I want to take a dip in the lake.

Would you call me please O my friend?

Would you come to me at day-end?

Would you tell me those lovely words?

“Sun had gone to west. Please be fast”

Is it a long way? What’s the date?

The Day that ends it all, game of fate.

Calls the cool and dark, loving lake

To heal the burn in a blessed death.
