An MLA s qualification : 70 criminal cases with an ongoing Rape Inquiry, Is this Shining India ?
We all agree to the grim situation of Politics in India and the frustration of people in various cities due to the Dirty Politics.
The girl was just 13-year-old when on May 5, 2005, she was abducted, tortured and brutally raped by six spoilt brats, one of them being Anna's kin. Fighting for justice for three years, hopes brightened when Mayawati came to power and her government slapped the Gangster Act on the six accused. But now, with Anna back in the power corridors, victim's family fears that it will lose support of thepolice and state administration.
"I can't believe this," said visibly apprehensive Saburddin, Zahira's father, a rag picker, while recalling two years of traumatising life when he and his family had to live like captives in their house for security, while culprits moved around scott free, till Maya government came to power and took some strict measures. "All my hopes of justice are now over," said the dejected father.
Not only Zahira's family, people at large, particularly social activists who have been supporting the girl in her fight for justice, were shocked and enraged. Madhu Garg and Prof RR Verma were quick to shot a letter to the chief minister requesting her not to induct Anna in her party as such turncoats will only damage her reputation and break people's confidence in her government.
"It's shocking that a person with 70 criminal cases against him has been made BSP candidate for Lok Sabha elections from Unnao," said Prof Verma. "We were hopeful about quick action when Mayawati came to power as being a woman she can understand the plight of a woman but here things have taken a somersault," said Garg. These activists have kept Zahira at an unknown place for her safety.
In fact, Zahira has not been informed about Anna joining the BSP lest she might slip into depression again. Even today, she shivers while recalling the ghastly act. It was only after media outcry and public anger that police had booked the six accused, four of whom hail from influential families. Anna was in Samajwadi Party (SP) then and close to the then chief minister, Mulayam Singh.
It was only after months of counselling that Zahira could muster courage to testify against the accused. Hurdles were created at every step. Police allegedly tried to help the accused and her medical examination report was tampered with. Her family was threatened and social activists attacked. Even the State Women Commission was questioned for its alleged dubious role. It took two years for the case to come for trial.
Things, however, changed when Mayawati came to power. On July 12, 2007, police tightened the noose around Anna and his brother for their alleged involvement in criminal cases. On August 31, 2007, Governor TV Rajeswar gave Rs 20,000 to the victim for fighting the case. On the same day, Gangster Act was slapped against the six accused, of which two were convicted in the lower court on September 6, 2007.
The two convicted have challenged lower court's verdict in the high court. Cases related to other four accused are still pending as they have claimed themselves to be minors. Their claims have been challenged both by Zahira's father and police in the court. Social activists fear that despite having enough proof, things will be difficult, if the police now turns soft towards the accused again.
Even dirty is a small word for the kind of challenges our Country faces and more its going to face, for the sole fact that the Policy makers at the top are not just Corrupt, Illiterate and Sick but because they have loads of Criminal Cases including Rape and Murder behind them.
There are numerous examples but the most recent one is an instance where the father of a Rape Victim is pleading for justice while the accused is going to be an MLA from BSP.
The case in question is of a middle class father whose 13 year old daughter was Raped by a Gang of People, and the primary accused being the relative of a Criminal who will now be getting a Ticket from Mayawati led Party BSP.
Its for you to decide now how to take all this, or join hands and wipe out such Dirty people from Indian Politics. I am citing the complete news story reported by Times Of India , Lucknow.
"LUCKNOW: Mafia-turned-politician Arun Shankar Shukla alias Anna's newfound bonhomie with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has left the Aashiana rape case victim, Zahira, and her family numb.

Delay in legal process has forced Zahira to live away from her family at a secret place, whereas the accused are out on bail. Nobody knows if the victim and her family would be able to handle the pressure for long. But the question being raised by people is -- "Mayawati seems to have forgiven Anna, who as a SP activist, allegedly manhandled her in 1995. Will she forgive Aashiana rape accused as well?"
