Are there equally bigger challenges infront of India as Terrorism ! Water, Electricity, Reservation?
Reservation,Poverty,Illiteracy,Inflation,Education... and the list goes on and on.
I remember year back when Arjun Singh was about to introduce Quota in IIMs and Medical Institutes there was a similar movement, the kind of we saw last night at Gateway of India. The difference was this time the Politicians coudnt stop the people from carrying out the demonstrations since the Terror attack left no answer for the Government.
While when demonstrations and strikes were carried out by Students and People from across India for removing Quota then there was Lathicharge and some students went missing.
The common man was asked to stay quite and watch Dirty Politics play its role.
So why dont we stand united on these issues simply because somewhere some section gets to benefit. And this is what Politicians use : Divide and capture Vote Banks.
India is struggling in a number of areas. Since Corruption is already making news I will focus on others.
While watching the movie "Swades" starring Shah Rukh Khan I was a little touched. Not because of the hard facts that the Poors in India face daily but because of the fact that these issues concern only a few.
If you go down the villages in India then you find people struggling to make a living. Forget Taj these farmers and other shopkeepers earn bear minimum to eat food once or twice daily. There is no one to look after there problems because of the "Shining India". The problem is there are so many layers in between these Poor Farmers and Government authorities that new policies designed to help them actually lands in hands of few waiting to eat up everything without doing any effort.
The problem of Cast is eating India slowly and slowly. If it were Britishers who started this notion then our corrupt Politicians are Exploting that since independence.
There are barely any seats left for a coomon student to Compete in a race of more than 20 Lakh competitors. More than 50% of the seats are reserved in Instituitions of Higher Studies.
Can someone suggest if this can help in improving the status of those for whom this has been done.
I met a worker at an Auto shop and asked him that why dosent he send his children to Colleges when they have reservations. His reply was that children of such people are barely able to complete high school forget College.
Now if someone seriously thinks about these people then why isnt free education and free books provided at Root level?
There are a number of issues from Water and Electricity to Roads which no one is ready to address.
Why cant we address these issues to help a common man rise in this "Shining India".
