Arvind Kejriwal and governance

Arvind Kejriwal’s success in politics resulting in to his party’s spectacular win in the recently held Delhi assembly elections was mainly due to his personal integrity and his team’s emotional appeals to the electorates on the issue of corruption. This being his strength, his weaknesses are multi-faceted.

Though his own image is clean for the present as he has not entered into the arena of political administration, yet his co-workers who have also clean images in the public gaze may develop vested interests once they get into the political system.  The integrity of his team would definitely touch the low ebb the moment they become partakers of government.

His second weakness is arrogance which may lead to his downfall in the long run.  He thinks other political parties are corrupt. He sees everything through the prism of corruption. His only mission is to capture political power for eradicating corruption.

His third weakness is his shortsightedness in foreseeing the future.  He presumes his party will sweep the re-poll.  He misses his present opportunities and lives in a castle of future.  He could have assumed the responsibility of taking over the political power in Delhi.  Both the BJP and the Congress parties could not afford to withdraw support to them once the AAP has formed its government with their support.

According to Arvind Kejriwal, governance means eradication of corruption.  Governance means rule of righteousness.  It does not mean absence of evil.  Evil tends  to pervade governance because the human beings who run the administration are not perfect.  But when there is rule of righteousness, then there will be welfare of the society.  The people benefit socially, economically and spiritually when there is a reign of righteousness in governance.  When the elected representatives run the government in righteousness, then there will be no room for corruption or evil.

Arvind Kejriwal has not seen the writing on his wall.
