I am writing today to pen some experience what I have in the past which always puzzled and tickled me as well. Sometimes it brought me close to the contradiction fraught in our Indian society and sometimes the dubious character of individuals and where things are so volatile that you couldn't predict anything about it.

Few years back, I still recall a wedding extravaganza, what I happened to attend. The Barat reached the bride's place where marriage was to take place late by 6 hours. The reason behind the delay was the groom itself. It was supposed to reach the place by six in the evening but made it somehow by 1'o clock too late in the night becuase before the barat could start the groom had left for parlour and turned up after four to five hours late. To my surprise, the groom was fretting and complaining that he was not given a golden watch from groom's side as a gift  what's been a custom in our place. What a contradiction that a person who never gave importance to the time is so stubborn on getting a watch from the bride side.

In another incidence( after one year of Babri Mosque Demolition), again I went to attend a marriage ceremony of the different community as an uninvited guest but as a special one with invited ones. I was the special because I was the youngest, merely 14 years old at that time. We were supposed to take the meal. Unfortunately, a rumor spread that we couldn't take the food(non-veg) because it was mixed with the forbidden flesh for hindus. The barat malik, father of the groom came to us and tried hard to convince us that there is nothing as such however the effort gone without the result.  So, finally he managed fresh chicken and employed a few to cook. The result was that we took our special divine food at 4'o clock in the night. Here I don't want to say anything but leave it to your sensitivity what did that incidence mean to me.

Today, something happened, what not only tickled me but it puzzled me as well. However, it could be a daily occurrence for many of us. I happened to ask a very simple question to a girl- what is your goal? (Matter gets too serious when this question is asked to the individual studying MBA) She, with a great innocence, replied- anyhow I have to earn money. It is quite natural that most of our struggle today is there because we need money. That is there since times immemorial. However, the thing what puzzled me was her brazen response and the underlying tone what she herself may not have been aware of that she was unknowingly telling that she believes money if earned by malpractices is not illegal or outlawed. Again, while writing this piece of thought, a person sitting in the same room whispered saying that- Paisa to kamaana hai boss. What a coincidence and what an authenticity I got for the impression what I had early in the morning regarding the pervasive tendency in th society for money where values, ethics and society don't matter.

However one of the biggest contradiction what I'd experienced, not out of the experience of my own life,  was the statement made by the counsel of A Raja in hearing of 2G scam where he tried to defend Mr. A Raja by saying that he(Raja) “may be guilty of gloss but not disrespect ( Disrespect to the PM and his office). How come glossing over the matter could not be synonymous to disrespect in such a crucial issues of political and administrative issues where public money is at stake.
