Varun Gandhi takes potshots at UPA and BSP
Pilibhit's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Varun Gandhi during his india election 2009 campaign took potshots at the Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
Varun just stopped short of controversy while addressing a rally saying those who raise their hands against him will have to answer him.
"Congress is dying and I don't want to say anything for those on death bed," said Varun.
He went on to add that the BSP would not be able to be major player in national politics.
"Gates of Parliament are too small for an elephant (BSP's election symbol). So it can't enter there," he said.
The BJP candidate also used a famous dialogue from the film Sholay to buttress his point that he was a leader whom every party feared.
"Mothers used Gabbar Singh's name to scare children when they did not sleep. Now they will say that if you don't sleep we will call Varun Gandhi," he said about the Sholay dialogue.
The National Security Act slapped on him by the Uttar Pradesh government was revoked on May 8 following the recommendation by the advisory board of the Allahabad High Court.
Uttar Pradesh government charged Varun under the NSA on March 29 for allegedly giving communal speeches in Pilibhit while campigning for lok sabha election india and inciting his supporters to riot on March 28 when he went to surrender before the Pilibhit court in a hate speech case.
