Slum Boy on Road Side

Student of MBA

Slum boy, a child who brought up & grown up in slum. I can’t use a word like Slumdog for him because I know it will be like abusing to him & I am also a human being like him, & I don’t have right to do so.

Today I have seen a boy on road side he was collecting scrap on the road, he was in the dregs (waste), & collecting different things in a dirty bag. I was listening FM, but after seeing him I switched it off.

From that movement up till now I am thinking about that kind of children. A number of children can be there in a slum family. Commonly father is bibulous (drinker of hooch), mother works in houses (dusting, washing utensils, clothes, etc.), other siblings also works (in tea stall, boot polishing etc.), but still they are poor. They some times go to school because government provide them mid-day meal. But they can’t concentrate in studies because of so many problems (family & living environment). When they unable to fulfil their day today needs they start stealing things (small to big one). Then start fighting quarrelling & gradually becomes ‘Bhai’.

On other hand a small child of an urbane family goes to school & then College & then becomes Engineer, Doctor or Manager. Still some exceptions are there no doubt. I am so young to give any advice about them, and still unable to find the suitable solution for those slum boys. They all are not hundreds in number to make them happy & educated in a day or week, but they are in millions.

I am unable to find the answers for the questions bellow- if you have then, please reply...

  1. Why government is unable to fail to improve the condition of these children?
  2. Why the slums in cities are increasing in cities?
  3. How they are living in dirty & stinking areas?
  4. Why always the leaders make the slum people an issue & never do anything for tem.
  5. If Slums are like bad spot on the map of city what is the viable action plan of government?
