Procorruption society
The professional politics has steeped down to the level so that they want to corrupt the young people of the society with the intention that they can get support for those activities from them. Society having a large percentage of procorruption people I term as Procorruption society. In this article, I want to describe how such society they create and how that society helps grow corruption in the country. It is something like a growth of a virus in the body that finally destroys the life. Similarly, this virus of corruption if allowed to grow unabatedly shall destroy the wellbeing of the society for the posterity.
This all begins when young people aspiring for a good financial career commence to look for a good and reliable source of income. After a good amount of attempt as they find that they do not get it by legitimate means they begin to look for other ways. Here the agents of political parties attract them and appoint them in their parties as ground level workers. There they begin to get the training for the many methods of corruption to make quick money. They see many politicians growing into big and powerful rich men. That develops in their mind a sort of confidence for the illegitimate ways they practice to get wealth at the cost of country’s exchequer or at the cost of common people. When their conscience objects to that, they get relief by the senior members of the party. What they suggest, I put here in brief, a typical dialogue in the two, a politician and his young follower.
“Tell me, do you want to be rich or not?”
“Of course, I joined the party to be rich.”
“Then do as I say.”
“Please, you do not bother for the sincerity of work because the world does not care for sincerity the world cares for how much you are worth. To be rich by any means should be your goal. If you do not do that, somebody else shall come and do that, so why not you do it and benefit. Moreover, to grow rich in no time you have to be corrupt.”
On that the young and hitherto innocent political worker questions, “What will happen to the country if everybody becomes corrupt”?
Senior politicians says, “Hey, you please let alone the society and country; nothing happens to society or country. By your going, corrupt nothing will happen to either society or the country. They are too big for that. But you will be rich, you will fulfill your deires with that riches. Is it not something that you become rich so quickly?” the senior politician further says, “Does the country bother for your poverty? Then why should you care for this society? Nothing happens to the country if you make some money by corrupt means. Everybody is doing it.”
Innocent worker asks, “What about values of moral?”
Senior politician laughs and replies, “My foot with moral values, what shall you eat? Moral values will not sustain you. These things are only for show and talk, remember, the real value is of only money so stop being a moralist and join the bandwagon of corrupts”.
After that, the very first dose of corruption senior politician gives to him. That goes well and now a new corrupt politician born to carry on the legacy of corruption to the next generation. The richness that he gets through corrupt methods gives him confidence that he is on the right path!
Seeing the way this young political worker became rich from rags, other get the inspiration. Senior politicians continue to tell the young workers that they should join the bandwagon of corrupt politicians and keep on benefiting.
This is how political parties keep on attracting young folk from the poor section of the society. However, they do observe certain norms while indulging in all their corrupt practices. The subject may not be complete if we do not take notice of those norms. The norms are very simple.
- Always continue to pretend to be very innocent, honest and patriotic.
-
Always continue to show in public that you are very, very concerned about and against corruption.
-
Always talk against corruption in public so that society keeps sleeping, believing that you are a very honest politician. If you do not do that, may be, they will suspect you and that will be not good for all the corruption you indulge in.
-
Always support other corrupt people so that in case you are exposed they will support you.
-
Always spread the message of corruption in private so that more become corrupt; that is good for the overall moment of corruption. The argument is, I have made money you can also make money by indulging in corruption.
-
Always suspect truly honest people in the society and try to show that they are corrupt. This strategy is good to frighten the honest but weak folks.
-
Always try to convert judiciary people to your side by giving them the taste of corruption.
-
Always try to find people in strategic position but in financial trouble to corrupt them. Tell them corruption is the way to success, show examples of other successful corrupt folk to justify.
-
Always try to hook media personnel to your side by giving them the taste of corruption.
-
Remember if majority in the society is procorruption, you are safe.
-
Call ordinary poor young people, duing private talks, to join the bandwagon of corrupt.
This is how NCP of Sharad Pawar is spreading the tentacles of his party in Maharashtra State. We see the results. In spite of open corruption, politicians of that party get votes and get in power. Today we see they are laughing at CM over his helplessness. Some senior Congressmen call NCP, National Corruption Party! My friend from Congress Party told me. beggars of one time such as Avhad and R.R. Patil are now very rich. Looking to their success, many other young are joining this party. In spite of open corruption, politicians of that party get votes and get in power. NCP is an example in point that shows how a political party introduces corruption in the society of poor people to get power.
Poor people keep hoping that some day even they may also benefit by supporting corruption elsewhere and so they are reluctant to take action against the other corrupt people. They live on hopes and continue to support corruption.
The question is how to stop this virus of corruption in the society of poor people?
