I just returned from watching James Cameron’s brilliantly made AVATAR. The Na'vi and Princess Neytri lingered long after the Pandora extravaganza was no more. Believe me, “I could feel the Na’vi – I have locked my hair to their smart grid’. The message of the movie can be variously interpreted. Comparisons with America’s war on terror and "unobtainium(oil?)" are inevitable. I believe it is a universal message, which especially needs to be applied by the extreme religious kind – many lessons-to-learn for the Jihadis of our Earth!

After being tired of various Aliens mercilessly attacking our Earth we have become the Alien in Pandora and in keeping with the original Hollywood theme - rightfully thrown out! The Na'vi wished no harm, only to be left alone to live their own beautiful culture under a massive tree of protection – even allowing a ‘foreigner’ to learn and find acceptance as one of them! Live and let live is a clear message across all planets? The more advanced the civilization the less of cheap hate, cruelty & violence ?

The stone-age barbaric man has evolved over brutal slave centuries into modern day independent man with significant freedom, striving for progress in every dimension of the human world. We have developed awesome technology from almost nothing -inspired as best by nature. Shocking Electricity, titanic Ships, high flying Airplanes & Rockets, Earth circulating Satellites, fast Automobiles, deadly Weapons of Mass Destruction, connective Tele-Communication, speedy Computers, soul-stirring Music, thoughtful Books, fabulous Art. etc. Everything is an expression of man, his inspiration - nothing was created by some mysterious God or dropped down from a Heaven. If there is anything that has to be worshipped it is the Human Spirit! Human Endeavor! Human Thought!

Why then do we still fight silly wars, rain drones & bullets, rape, maim & kill? The beast in many of us is still alive? How do we kill the beast? I quote from The Economist, Dec-19th -1st Jan 2010 edition An (amazing & awfully thought-provoking newspaper) which says: ALL THAT GOD ASKS OF MAN IS TO STRIVE FOR PROGRESS, NOTHING MORE, “IT IS HUMAN VIRTUES I WANT” HE SAYS, “HUMAN GREATNESS”.

We have a brand new year coming-up ahead of the curve and many more to come. Let us interlock our hair into one grid and say “I feel you”. Lets all AVATAR please! Lets understand, learn & accept our differences however large they may be, stick together and strive to bring forth the brilliance that lies within each one of us!. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010!
