21st Century Belongs to America or China ?

"On visits to Shanghai and Beijing, Obama will encounter not simply a rising global power but a nation that is transforming and challenging the way Americans live overseas and at home, from college classrooms to real estate offices to the ginseng farms of central Wisconsin." Writes John Pomfret in The Washington Post

If the above statement was a bit modest, then perhaps, Helene Cooper, Michael Wines and David E. Sanger made slightly aggressive remarks in The New York Times that, "When President Obama visits China for the first time on Sunday, he will, in many ways, be assuming the role of profligate spender coming to pay his respects to his banker."

However, the comment of Jeffrey Bader, Obama's top National Security Council official for East Asia, admitting it openly " "None of the great issues of the day can be addressed without Chinese cooperation," is surely an affirmation of the meaningful declaration by Gordon G Chang, the author of "Coming Collapse of China," in an analysis published on Forbes website, that "On this trip, it looks as if President Obama has defeated himself even before he arrives."

Seconding political reactions from unofficial and official representatives of our 'Big Brother,' international business leaders at a summit in Singapore on the sidelines of the leaders meeting of the APEC; while appreciating the massive stimulus measures taken by the Chinese government, ensuring a quick and sharp recovery of it's economy, clearly opined, that " China is taking a leading role in the global recovery through a 'balanced' contribution."

"As debt-laden consumers in the U.S. retrench, increasingly wealthy Chinese consumers could become one of the most important sources of growth for the global economy. Shoppers in China are opening their newly stuffed wallets wider than ever. Passenger car sales surged 76% in October from a year earlier, while overall retail sales jumped 16.2%. Such spending has contributed to China's robust recovery from the global economic crisis. Gross domestic product grew a hefty 8.9% in the third quarter from a year earlier," writes Michael Schuman on Times

Now, with a huge concern about the consequences of this dramatic rise of "The Chinese Dragon, or Lung , - Chinese around the world, proudly proclaim themselves 'Lung Tik Chuan Ren' (Descendents of the Dragon) - which symbolizes power and excellence, valiance and boldness, heroism and perseverance, nobility and divinity; overcoming obstacles until success is his..," may I ask a simple question: "The 20th century was the century of the United States. Will the 21st century be the one of China?" (Nato) Image Source: Core77

Update: Results of a poll conducted by CNN reveals that 70% of the Americans perceive China as economic threat.
