Q. Briefly tell us about the institute and its success stories?
A: The institute was started in the year 1979 by Jesuits, known all over the world for commitment to excellence and quality in education. The first program ever was an intensive business management program for the working executives of Chennai, who lapped it up quite eagerly. Even today it is a premier b-school in India with several innovations in delivery of business management programs. For instance, LIBA's firm customized programs, blended learning programs, out-reach programs are all hall mark of innovation in business management education.

Q. What are the courses offered under MBA channel?
A: The flagship course is the two year full time PGDM course, recognized by AICTE and the AIU. This prestigious course is in great demand with several thousand applications from students across the country. The course is delivered by an eclectic blend of 25 faculty, most whom are PhDs with several years of industry experience and several visiting faculty drawn from industry and academia. Then there are several courses such as the part-time PGDM program, certificate programs in Supply Chain Management, Retail Management, Behavioral Sciences, etc.

Q. Tell us about the admission process at LIBA.
A: For the full time program, a candidate is expected to write the XAT or the Xaviers's admission test conducted by the XLRI, take part in the GD and Interview process. A combination of performance in previous academic programs, employment, and the written test, GD and Interview are considered for admission into the program.

Q. What is the fee structure like?
A: The fee is Rs. 5.03 lakhs for two years.

Q. Tell us about you faculty and alumni.
A: LIBA possesses a large pool of PhDs trained in diverse fields in management. With over 25 permanent faculty, of which majority of them being PhDs, the school is very well positioned with respect to student faculty ratio. The latest pedagogy, designed by the faculty advisory committee comprising leading academicians and industry leaders, drives the quality that underpins the management programs. Faculty is not only involved in teaching but also is seriously involved in advising industry and conducting research. There are several firms that benefit from cutting edge solutions from LIBA and several books and research articles have been published by LIBA faculty. The alumni of LIBA manage the helm of many firms and that too across the globe. LIBA alumni is in the top management of several international and national firms of great repute.

Q. How is the placement scenario last year and what is the highest pay package offered to LIBA students in campus selection?
A: The placement scenario last year was not as great as the previous years. Yet, LIBA is one of the few b-schools in the country that managed 100 % placement. The highest pay offered last year was Rs. 10 lakhs.

Q. Does your institute offer scholarships or loans?
A: Yes. Merit based scholarship is offered to the needy and poor. Loans are available through select banks to all the applications. However, bank loans are at the discretion of the issuing banks.

Q. Do you have any international affiliations and student exchange programme?
A: LIBA has over a dozen international collaborations and MoUs with several universities of repute across the globe. To name a few, University of Dayton, USA, St Joseph's University, USA etc. Students & faculty visit several countries including France, the USA and Germany.

Q. What makes your institute stand out among other MBA schools?
A: There are several aspects that make LIBA special. We just delve into a few. The one aspect that makes LIBA stand out in the business management educationscape is its emphaisis on overall development of the character, strongly rooted in ethics and values. LIBA prepares student for life. LIBA has instituted the prestigeous "Mother Teresa Award for Best Corporate Citizen" award for corporate that adhere to best business ethics and corporate governance. This award is one of the most coveted awards in the country among the corporate. LIBA has several centres of excellence - namely the Loyola Centre for Ethics and Corporate Governance, Centre for Supply Chain Management, Centre for Retail Management, Centre for Entrepreneurial Excellence, Centre for Behaviroal Science etc. These centres conduct, research, conferences, compeitions and specialised programs and provide consultancy services in their respective areas. LIBA conducts several national and international level conferences and symposia that witnesses each year over 50 MDs, CEOs, Directors and other members of the top management interact with students and delegates.
