Transcending Transcience
Is it not the same thing we, the most intelligent creatures, doing it all the time? In every religion the hedonists are decried for seeking this transient pleasure. The thing such as arts, literature, and scriptures et al we say is eternal, but in actuality nothing is eternal . The same way a toddler describes, in his limited ability, duration of a day or distance between the home and park nearby as s o o o long – pointing to eternity.
So, all are relatively true so to say.
A lover in the arms of the beloved forgets everything in the world. Can he or she think for a while that the precious moment will cone to an end ever. This sort of moment comes to every living being – I include all – irrespective of whether they consciously understand or not they are doing the same thing in a different way forgetful of the next moment or ultimate end of it all. For everyone this moment is important gaining the significance of eternal. In fact, it’s a part of eternal. Many philosophers and religious leaders interpret it differently branding it trivial, and transitory and hence not worthy of any consideration. I am a product of such a millieu. But in actuality is it so?
The Sun is losing 4 million tons of mass every second – a clear indication it will come to its end one day. So is the universe. There are two ways of looking at: everything is impermanent, so forget this moment. And the other is: the universe is moving by transcending every nano-second of transients – future depends on this moment. Both are necessary. In life, in order to move on we need to discard numerous pleasant or unpleasant things as disposable transients. Otherwise, it will impede our growth. Again, if we are not able to assimilate and accrue on every little bits of continuous flow of transients the so-called growth won’t occur. But both are contradictory in terms. Judicious balance between the two is crucial. But how to?
This is the thought I jotted down on 24th April,2006 by seeing the bitch on the road side. Now, I want to share it with you. Am I not confused?
