"In actual what is Modernization....????"

Is it disrespecting elders....?? Or, wearing short clothes....???? Or, kissing your love in the public....?? Or, forgetting our cultures....??

Here I am sharing a true story of one of my friend. Her name is Pallavi. We were good friends in our graduation days. Then I joined MBA and decided to marry the the boy whom she loved. Then in between we never had any contact. 

Suddenly, last month we met in one of our friend's marriage. There we were really amazed to find each other. I met her husband, her in- laws and her 1 year old son. 

When she introduced me to her in- laws.... I touched her in- laws feet as they were like my parents.... But I was amazed when Pallavi told me, " Jay, what are you doing....? U are such a modern girl and you are touching feet of my in- laws....?"

I really felt very bad after hearing this.... In reply I told only one thing, " Modernization does not mean to disrespect our elders, wearing short clothes or forgetting our cultures..... But modernization means to modernize the thinking, making our thoughts broader.... To wisely adjust to the environment...."

And I was again amazed when suddenly I met Pallavi's husband in the parking lot because he said, " Jayshree, you are a magician."

I asked him why.. What happened..

Then he said, You are really a magician, what we couldn't do in two years, you did in 2 minutes.." I still couldn't understand what he was telling me..

I asked him to tell me clearly what happened. Then he told me that after their marriage, the very next day Pallavi asked him that she will not stay with his parents.... He said that he was the only child of his parents and he will not leave his parents.... Then she told that she would not stay then.... So, his parents asked him to stay separate to maintain peace.....

Then he told me, " You know, the next day after meeting you in the party, she told me.... Let's get back to your parents because they are my parents too...." 

Moral of the story:

Modernization means to broaden the thinking and not forgetting the cultures or disrespecting the elders.

Please do not disrespect the elders in the name of MODERNIZATION.
