Numbers speak
Planet Earth has almost 6.5 billion people clocking a $ 60 trillion economy. By 2050 we would almost be 8.5 to 9 billion people. Imagine what infrastructure would be required to make this planet livable then.
Veering off to another dimension: Indian software exports are at $ 38 billion with 30% growth targets in the years ahead. Concurrently, Indians spend a whopping $ 13 billion a year on education, outside of India. I am not sure what budgets our top engineering and management schools have. But it’s not rocket science to understand how many more good education centers we could have built at one tenth of this yearly education expense . I am not saying doing that would meet all requirements, but it would definitely give options and for a large number would suffice.
The African continent has had it’s malaria deaths for decades. All it takes is to supply 300 million mosquito bed nets to contain this epidemic and @ $5/net means $ 1.5 billion. This is what the US spends a day on the Iraq war !
As I said , numbers speak.
