Dimple has battled all odds: Rishi Kapoor
Mumbai: It's a story of selflessness and sacrifice. Dimple Kapadia, whose birthday is today, has been taking care of her sister, Simple, who suffers from cancer, for a long time now.
Rishi, who was her first co-star in 1970 when Dimple was just 15 years old, says he hasn't seen a better sister. "I am amazed at her capability to go on nurturing her sister who has been unwell forever, even sometimes at the cost of her own career. Her motherly instinct is what sets her apart.
She has single-handedly battled all odds to be a pillar of support to her sister, who is plagued with this unfortunate disease. Dimple has managed to shield her sister from everything and her resilience has been tremendous. This quality of Dimple's to put everything at stake for her sister is totally admirable - even at the cost of not picking up a film offer because she wanted to be around for her sister. One tends to break at the face of such adversity, but not Dimple. I salute her."
Kapoor says even though they have not really been in constant touch since the last 37 years, they manage to pick up whenever they meet. "Dimple is the kind who chooses her career, chooses her life path, doesn't let fame or the limelight sweep her away. She did miss out on ten years of her career because of marriage, and unfortunately it didn't work out. But she has managed to hold her place in the industry," he says. Kapoor wishes Dimple great health, happiness and prosperity on her 52nd birthday.
