With increasing influence of wealth in our system,we have lost the distinction between right and wrong. we accept and glorify everything that comes along as a sign of wealth and power.. ...people know lakshmi mittal more for his billion dollar expenditure on his daughter's wedding rather than for his being in the FORBE'S list .. People dont know Mallya for his being Liquor Barron or Kingfisher airline owner,he is better known for his aristrocratic and affluent way of living, Nobody knows the name of this year magsaysay award winnner ,Dr. Prakash Amte and Dr. Mandakini Amte.nobody will talk about Martthi Athisaari,Nobel Peace prize winner.Media wont publicize their work much and if it does,i bet it will have a finger-count of viewers..Bidding at IPL where rich and famous people bids for cricketing talents, is getting all da fanfare .. philanthropic and social welfare work are not given any attention.this misguided perception and publicity has deviated people from actual track.In previous time people used to get respect in the society according to their social conduct,their contribution to society and the achievement they got on their own..But now everything comes secondary to wealth or to be more particular the show of affluence..cosummerism is one of the most evident effect..people are wasting a lot of their valuable time and money in maintaining a luxurious lifestyle. flashy apparels n imported goods r in great demand..Undeserving mediocre personalities appearing on TV and Cinema r being considered as role models..Ideas of Gandhi,Nehru and Vivekanand have become confined only to books.This will surely take us nowhere.Poverty is rising, social issues which deserves our immediate attentions have taken backseat.their is a dearth of good leaders and social workers..every body wants to be like MALLYA,LAKSHMI MITTAL,SACHIN TENDULKAR or SHAHRUKH KHAN..nobody wish to do in depth analysis of the ordeals,persevarance and hard work they have gone through to reach that point in their carrier..everything they have achieved is not just by their talent or luck or proper oppurtunity,they have hit da iron wen it was hot and sometimes they have hit da iron so hard that it became hot..
